ORTHOTICS INSOLES = SHOE INSERTS = ARCH SUPPORTS

We provide biomechanical therapy utilizing the following types of orthotics insoles:

  • Functional Orthotics
  • Children’s Orthotics
  • Smaller devices for fashion shoes
  • Sport Orthotics
  • Active Senior’s Orthotics

Orthotics are shoe inserts that are intended to correct an abnormal, or irregular, walking and running pattern. Orthotics are not truly or solely “arch supports,” they perform functions that make standing, walking, and running more comfortable and efficient by altering the angles at which the foot strikes a walking or running surface. Foot orthotics fall into three broad categories: those that primarily attempt to change foot function, those that are primarily protective in nature, and those that combine functional control and protection.

At Preston Podiatry we prescribe orthotics devices as a conservative approach to many foot and lower limb problems or as a method of control after certain types of foot surgery; their use is a highly successful, practical treatment form.

Orthotics take various forms and are constructed of a range of materials. All are concerned with improving foot function and minimizing stress forces that could ultimately cause foot deformity and pain, lower limb conditions and even back and neck pain. The Podiatrists at Preston Podiatry have special interest in the areas of:

  • heel pain
  • plantar fasciitis
  • knee pain.
  • shin splints

At Preston Podiatry our laser scan orthotics are light weight and thin, very durable and will slip in and out of most shoes and sandals. In most cases you won’t go up a shoe size at all. One pair will last between 3 and 6 years and private health insurers do offer rebates on these highly effective devices. Call our Office for a prompt assessment – 9300 6222.
